| This classic bicycle exploration of Vietnam, starts in the Hanoi Capital and ends in the Ho Chi Minh City in the south of Vietnam. Along the way we pause to visit the main sites in Halong Bay, Hoa Binh, Hoi An, Hue, and finally Ho Chi Minh City. What makes this tour special is our route hardly touches the frenetic Highway One, as we ride along quiet or little used roads to discover the real Vietnam.
Taking time out of the saddle we have excursions by boat in Halong, Hue and on Mekong river as well as interesting rides to Cu Chi Tunnels. After cycling through the incredible limestone karst scenery of Hoa Binh and boating in Halong Bay we spend a night aboard the Reunification Express Train to Hue then passing the Hai Van pass to Hoi An, an old commercial town from the 17th century. On reaching Ho Chi Minh City, we have time to ride to the Mekong delta and homestay to experience the local life. |

| Hanoi (Vietnamese: Hà Nội, pronunciation (help info)) is the capital of Vietnam and the country 's second largest city. Its official name is Thủ ðô Hà Nội ("Hanoi the Capital"). It has an estimated population nearly 6.5 million (2009), (but only 2.6 million (2009) in urban areas). From 1010 until 1802, it was the most important political centre of Vietnam. It was eclipsed by Huế during the Nguyễn dynasty as the capital of Vietnam, but Hanoi served as the capital of French Indochina from 1902 to 1954. From 1954 to 1976, it was the capital of North Vietnam.
The city is located on the right bank of the Red River. Hanoi is located at 1,760 km (1,090 mi) north of Ho Chi Minh City.
October 2010 officially marked 1000 years since the establishment of the city. On this occasion, Hanoi was named by Frommer 's travel guide as one of the world 's "Top Destinations 2010". |
